Stunning turnout. 70 ish.

Plus Simon Gaywood new course record 22:17 (to be ratified).

All the results later when I get them sorted. Much later.

Great thanks Max , your prompt efforts are as ever humbly appreciated- btw Rocky was a DNS as he punctured a tub warming up ...

was some turn out ... was talking with Dave Woodward , he is thinking of changing to an 18.45 kick off

One of the oldies mentioned the course record is a 20 mins and something (done by an olympic cyclist but no idea when - could have been an early Greco record.. will try and find out tho)

...being an aerodynamicist, I reckon that helmet he wasn't wearing saved him at least 4 minutes! Smile

..also, I do believe that pink lycra has a very low drag coefficient, therefore this would have saved him at least another 2 mins! (Gings is an engineer - he'll back me up on this).

why do think I was wearing pink last night - we're not stupid you know!!!

...by this theory, if you wanna go faster you should get one of these....

As another aerodynamicist, I'm thinking about sticking cling film over my bogstandard (cycle) helmet next week. Should be worth a few seconds.

I am not an "aerodynamicist" so I know what I'm talking about.
I am not an "engineer" so I still know what I'm talking about.

Much as his wonderful colour (stolen from stewedrat) and lack of helmet helped shave hours off his time...

I would suggest that...
a superb position
stunning CV output
disproportionately high power/mass ratio
superb road skills/technique from training at elite level
a very light, stiff, small bike specifically tt tailored (pricey)

and an enormous knob probably did the business for him.

So now you know.

lodsa pink but no bit of yellow - as Mr Gaywood (an unfortunate name for a man wearing all pink you may comment: not just the Gay bit but also the Wood .. which Max has speculated to be enormous mind you ) had no race number this means no offical record so even if this did beak the course record .. .it will remain unoffical cept we were all there and we saw it anyway...I think

I've already beaten Collett without it. Wouldn't want to really break him!

Not to detract from what is a awesome bit of riding, but a reliable source can remember Noel Lilley doing a short 22 on the 10 course in the 1970s. The guy later turned pro in the US but was unfortunatley killed and died young. Some of the old guard at BRCC may remember him.

Tricky comparison...better road surface(?) & worse equipment.

Sounds damn impressive.
